Find some snippets below about what life has thrown my way (or what I have thrown at life) in a certain month. Going to update this sporadically, but not retroactively.
Last update: 25 May 2024
This month has been very kind to me. Kicked off the month with a company party and working from the beach. In the middle of the month, I got to see Fred Again... at the Ziggo Dome and spent the weekend at my best friend's place. And I got to close it all off with a short trip to London to see arguably one of my favourite bands Good Kid and close of the months with some laughs at the Aunty Donna show!
October got kicked off by the London transport failing me and spending 40 quid on an uber to the airport just to find out I could've taken my time as my flight was delayed lol. I made it home and received some chain mail that I'd been waiting for since January as well as the insane news that Fall Out Boy's team was giving me 2 VIP tickets to a show of my choice. I already was going to the Amsterdam show so this was a very pleasant surprise!I then spent 10 days very actively working on my Halloween costume before heading over to the UK for the Halloween party with friends. Whilst back in the UK I also got to see James Acaster's Hecklers Welcome show and got a snazzy new haircut. I also managed to meet up with a fellow Fall Out Boy mod in Manchester before catching a flight back home and closing off the month whilst keeping it chill.
November has been really nice! The first weekend I went to Oberhausen with my friend Zoey to see Fall Out Boy again. The VIP stage & gear tour was really cool and at the end of the show, I also managed to get the setlist. The following week I went to see some comedy and finally got to host one of the events we have been trying to host in the FOB server for literal months. And then I headed back to Manchester, for 34 days. This time to go apartment hunting to find my own space out in the UK. I also got to meet up with some friends as well as go to a Hot Milk concert where I went crowd surfing (and get quite the bruises lol).
What a month to close the year off. I spent the majority of this month in the UK and went back to the Netherlands for Christmas and New Years (and so that I can pack up everything to move over to the UK again soon!). My mum had some cupcakes delivered to my apartment which was super sweet, and I took myself out for a really tasty dinner as well. I was the most excited to see George [the cat] again, missed that little guy the most. Besides that, the month was pretty chill. Happy end of 2023 folks, may 2024 be kind to all <3
Happy 2024! Looking back at this first month of the year and it's looking good. I'm cautiously optimistic for how this year is gonna go, truly. I've met up with multiple friends this month, ate probably the best scallop of my life, was actively crafting away and went to the office again for the first time in actual ages, and am finalising the application for (hopefully) my apartment in Leeds.
I'm in the UK now?! This month has been super chaotic and mainly spent packing up my entire life into boxes and then a short busy weekend of moving everything over. There also was a quick visit to Germany, an insanely fun subathon, a Mother Mother gig and the start of my first very chaotic multiplayer BG3 run.
Life is weird, I have fully moved out but it doesn't feel like it? I've unpacked all of my stuff, my coffee machine finally arrived and I'm cooking a bunch of nice meals and going on walks and generally taking control of my entire day. But it still feels like I'm on holiday? Maybe all the times I've lived in the UK for just a few months have taken away that big "I've moved out!!" feeling?Either way, beyond the weird guilt of emigrating I have had some great things happen this month too! I got to see The Mary Wallopers, bought tickets to (FINALLY) see Friday Pilots Club and I got to (ALSO FINALLY!!) see Dead Poet Society. Seeing Dylan Brenner absolutely kill it on bass inspired me a lot so I finally bit the bullet and got another bass so I could transform my first bass to a BEAD set up and also clean that thing for the first time in,,, too long.See you next month!
April has been a super chill month. Partially as I was sick for like a week and couldn't do much, but also the rest of the month was just very relaxed. My new bass (Squire affinity jazz bass, my beloved) had come in, some more walking around town with a coffee as the weather was lovely and closing off the month with a short gig to see The Happy Fits and Bears in Trees. Managed to get the lighting guides for both of the sets as well which is a slay. Next month is going to be insane though, can't wait to tell you about that one!
What. A. Month. It started off with my first vote in the UK! If you have the right to vote, even if it's local elections and you feel like it isn't much power, I do always encourage everybody to vote. Then very early on in the month I took the train down to London, hopped on a flight to Toronto to see Good Kid perform a hometown show. This quite possibly will be the most overwhelmingly positive week of the year. I was already looking forward to this one for MONTHS, and whilst every group trip has some ups and downs, the ups massively outweighed the downs. Going to plug my dear friend Manon's youtube here as she made some amazing vlogs of the trip which I have watched so many times as it really does capture the entire trip so well.Flying back was not fun in the moment, with so much crying, but looking back at that it was kinda funny that we were just bawling over every small little thing before I launched into a rant about orange juice.Once home the concerts didn't stop, I landed on Tuesday and on Friday I was off to see another Toronto band called Ready The Prince. And on Sunday I got to see Friday Pilots Club!I then had a little bit of a chill week and a half before heading back to the Netherlands at the end of the month and getting to spend the last weekend of the month with my family.
